Troy Historical Society $3,705 Nominated by: JoAnn Preston Website: Link The Troy Historical Society engages the community and enables life-long exploration of history by sharing and preserving our stories, artifacts, and buildings through creative, meaningful experiences. The Indigenous Voices program gives space for authentic Native American voices to share the history and stories of their culture to students actively learning about Indigenous Communities in the classroom. Students learn that these are living cultures, not just people found in a history book. They have the opportunity to engage in conversation as part of their learning. They also see how culture is preserved and passed on to the next generation. These experiences cultivate critical thinking and empathy in our next generation of Troy citizens and leaders. |
